Flaking, exposed aggregate, pits, rough surfaces and crumbling edges should be evaluated for depth and extent. Some localized deterioration can be repaired or resurfaced. Deep or widespread deterioration may make repair less practical.
What to Look For
Photograph the entire affected area as well as close views of cracks, edges, joints and elevation changes. Note whether the condition is changing, whether water collects nearby and whether a previous repair has failed.
When to Get It Evaluated
If the damage is spreading, creating a trip point, holding water, showing movement or getting worse after winter, an evaluation can help determine whether targeted repair still makes sense.
